Child Safety
Pediatrics have long been the focus of emergency care and prevention.
Children’s Health Care of Atlanta has implemented an excellent outreach
program in the local community. They have acute care centers to treat
children who are ill or injured. These type of clinics curve the cost of
a typical emergency room visit and also provide parents an opportunity
to get their kids Pediatric advanced life support care. By no stretch of
the imagination do these clinics replace an emergency room or their
capabilities. However, these acute care facilities are able to treat
many preexisting medical conditions which do not require a level 1
trauma center. The pediatric health care provider has the option of
transferring the child to higher tertiary level of care should such care
be required. A helicopter as well as an ambulance is the primary mode
of transport for the ill or injured pediatric patient.
School systems in the metro Atlanta area have also initiated health care and
prevention as part of their core curriculum. Health and science fair
projects have been very instrumental in the education of many young
children. Fire safety is the leading program and has been recognized as
the number one program for fire prevention. The Business Chronicles in
Atlanta Georgia has seen great strides in child safety when physicians
attend a PALS course. There are many opportunities for parents,
teachers, nannies and babysitters to decrease trauma related incidents.
Many of these educational programs may be acquired through the local
college or technical institute. Funding has been a major hurdle for many
of these programs in the past. However, the local community has seen
that an once of prevention or education is worth many times more than a
pound of cure. Never the less, parents must take responsibility for
their kids safety and their well being. Find more info by visiting your
